Mydin Hypermarket Meru Raya

New township in Ipoh north features Mydin biggest hypermarket with shopping mall experience. Unlike other hypermarket, it has live performance at stage to entertain the shoppers during weekend.

At construction stage, we were called to propose a system for their application at the Mall and Food Court stages. Based on our proposed system, they preferred our type of speakers that can provide good sounding playback music.

Stage Mall

Sound Reinforcement System
The front stage has 4 microphones and 2 monitors floor panel space out left and right and at the back center 8 microphones panel at wall. Also we add in front 1 video out monitor for their Karaoke performance. Underneath the stage there are 2 powered subwoofers space out and 4 FOH speakers mounted at the 2 beams. All control only with 24 channel mixing console without any processor as all speakers are active. The playback music with DJ dual CD player with track controller with pro headphone and wireless microphones.

Stage Lighting System
The proposed lights are LED Parcan 6 per side and Moving Head spot mounted together with barrel. At the bottom of the stage backdrop we space evenly 6 LED Bar wash lights, since the top backdrop has a curve design at the time of installation.  All lights control with DMX512 with 16 faders on board. All the equipment situated at the control booth front side stage beside the beam.

Food Court Stage

Sound Reinforcement System
This stage is bigger than the Mall with 4 microphones and monitors at the front left and right stage and 16 microphones with junction box mounted at rear stage center wall. At the center stage lip  house 4 compact 2-way 8" speaker beside the staircase follow by powered subwoofers of each side. The Front of House speakers space out each beam left and right, even feel up the food court area. The control booth beside the stage housed 36 channel mixing console with speaker processor and wireless microphones all in the rack.
Beside the console include CD players for music leisure.

Stage Lighting System
The front stage at ceiling mount 12 LED Parcan and 4 Moving Head and at backdrop above mounted 3 LED Bars as light washer, all with barrel. The DMX controller at the same booth as audio with 8 faders on board.
Projection System
After the completion on sound and lighting installation, the client decided to have visual projection on stage. At that moment it about to start football fever EURO 2012. We mounted motorised screen 9 x 12' above the stage and projector at the lighting barrel. For convenient sake we install the motorised switch that can automate the projector to ON and OFF when the screen roll down/up respectively without using the projector IR remote control.

Currently I guess there are some changes at the Food Court stage area and some of the systems may have removed during renovation.

The International School @ ParkCity

As Malaysia premier international school that offer Pre-School, Primary and Secondary based on the National Curriculum of England. The curriculum delivered theme of "Learn, Play & Grow" The school caters for expatriate children and locals.

The school has Multi-Purpose Hall for their assembly, indoor sports and stage performance with a size bigger than basketball court and ceiling height of 10 meter which is 3 storey in the building. We were invited to design in tender to supply and install Acoustic Panel, Stage Curtain, Sound Reinforcement, Projection and Stage Lighting systems. Through our presentation, our design were accepted from their evaluation and consideration.

Acoustic Panel
We work with our manufacturer to fabricate different types of acoustic panel to treat the hall. The front side stage, both middle side wall and back wall were all treated to absorb all sound of frequencies.

Stage Curtain
We provide Motorised Curtain for Center Parting and Top Masking to hide the track, Floodlight and Projection Screen at stage. One of the side stage changing room is where the control switch for motorised parting curtain.

Sound Reinforcement System
The side of each hall has 2 speakers space out per side, front and mid field mounted on wall. The subwoofers place on stage as there's no space below the stage. There are microphones receptacle panel at one side of the stage and junction box mounted at backstage for band instruments and amplification. On stage there are 2 Powered Monitors for foldback or front field audience coverage.
The control room is station at 1 floor above the main entrance looking towards the stage. All microphone inputs connected at the Mixing Console with 4 wireless microphones, and control the speakers level via amplifiers for front, mid fields and subwoofers independently. In the rack there are graphic equalizers for Front of House. Beside the mixer there are Powered Monitors for all levels monitoring.

Projection System
On stage above mounted Motorised Screen 16x16' between cross beams and projector away the front stage mounted with scissor lift that is kept in the ceiling. When projection start, the lift will lower down to projection level and if is off will retract back to the ceiling as well as the screen. The scissor lift can drop to
maximum service level at ground if require any change of lamp and/or cleaning of filter. At projector there is a IR probe that transmit to the receiver at control room, where it can control the projector remote at control room to power the projector and adjust the projection image. All motorised switches is at control room including the power.
Both side of the stage has Video and VGA receptacle inputs. The video inputs is to cater DVD playback or Camera capture at stage for projection on screen. The VGA inputs is for Laptop connection for presentation on screen. Due to the distance, the VGA transmit using Cat5 to prevent signal deterioration. All the signals switching at control room in the rack, and the projector that supplied is able to detect type of signals on the same input without any switching processor. At control room there are DVD playback and VGA connection to the switcher for any scene or backdrop display on projection screen.

Stage Lighting System
The lighting system is using the LED lamp with combination of colours red, green, blue and white. The mixture of colours is control with DMX address. Since is a high ceiling and prevent from changing bulb like the conventional Parcan, so we proposed LED Par of 54 pieces RGBW. There are 12 LED Par hanging below the ceiling with barrel just in front the projector. The LED Par set the same DMX address in pairs side by side of the same spot to achieve higher lux.
On the same barrel there's a Moving Head Spot with their logo
design in the gobo for effect display.
Above the stage there are 4 LED Colours Bars mounted with a barrel on the beams in front the
projection screen. Each LED bar has 108 pieces RGB to wash the stage/backdrop.
The DMX controller is situated at the control room to adjust and change the scene of LED lights. At the control room there's a standalone Followspot through the window for stage spotlight. This Followspot has colours changing features on control panel.

This project, wiring is our main concern considering the long distance we have to pull the wires. The types of cables of each system and the implementation is very importance to avoid any deterioration or drop of signal. Everything turns out as what we wanted, the only problem is the site voltage instable cause the LED Color Bar burned. To prevent that we installed the voltage regulator to stabilise the power.

Emmanual Evangelical Free Church

The church located at Wangsa Maju is to serve the communities gather every Sunday service to listen to the sermon and fellowship with one another.
The church committee was planned to expand their existing premise for the whole floor by taking over the 2 lots. Renovation was called to cater bigger communities and room for fellowship. The premise also rent out to other christian group to hold session and seminars.

We were call preliminary to propose and design sound and projection systems for worship. When time comes tender was called, and we were given opportunity to install the systems hand in hand with the main contractor renovation. Here are the illustration of the systems layout.

New Extended Premise

The existing system was dismantled to install for the new area call Other Ministry with their 4 compact speakers mounted from the ceiling space out of each pair and a TV. Another TV at Cry Room and a pair of Powered Speakers at Baptismal Hall. Their compact mixer and amplifier is house in the rack with top opening for mixing. The mixer is use for to control individual volume for compact speakers in Other Ministry and Powered Speakers in Baptismal Hall. The audio also route to TV at Cry Room.
Beside the audio, the Other Ministry has motorized screen for portable projection of 4 meter away with supply and VGA panel floor box with cover. This to avoid cables running on the floor. Their TV is wired with S-Video cable and amplified to 2 TVs for PC Power Presentation.

Renovated Sanctuary

Sound System
The new layout of the sanctuary has a side wing where the control room is located. The wing mounted 3 speakers space out and the same 5 speakers for the main. Both wing and main has different level control at mixing console. On stage, there are 2 powered monitors and their existing top speaker with subwoofer for music and backup singing only. The front stage has 3 microphone panels, the rest at Junction box mounted side stage with 12 microphone inputs, 4 instruments line-in, 2 monitors out and a speakon connection for speaker/subwoofer. At Control Room other mixing inputs are dual wireless microphones Handheld/Headworn and PC audio. The console also route the signal to all LCD TVs and Baptismal Hall/Cry Room of separate Aux control.

Visual/Projection System
There are 2 projections at stage, 1 at Wing and the other for Main congregations. Furthermore it has 3 LCD TVs space out 2 at Main and 1 for Wing. The system also ceiling mounted with IP PTZ camera control by PC LAN to capture the worship leader seen at projection and LCD TV.
AT the front stage there are 2 VGA inputs and 1 outputs panel, 1 input is for all visuals, the other only for Main projection cater for small group and the output is for LCD monitor to be view by Worship leader coming from control room PC. There's a video input at Junction Box for camcorder capture at stage to show for all visuals.
The VGA source between stage and control room PC is switch using remote on Wing projector that is the master distribution to other visuals. Whereas for the video between PTZ Camera and camcorder is through video switcher. The selection of VGA and video is using projector IR remote. All the LCD TVs is connected with IR probe emitter cum receiver to have centralized remote at control room. The LCD TV can display separate pictures of VGA and video either half or at the corner of the screen for video capture by PTZ Camera.
The PC in the control room can record the event video captured by the PTZ camera including the audio.
All the audio and video is routed to the TV at Cry Room.

FCC ruling on 'Wireless' channels

For Your Information,

FCC Announces End Date for Wireless Mic Operation in 700 MHz Band

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has reorganized the UHF television spectrum, which is also used by many wireless microphones, wireless in-ear monitors, wireless production intercom systems, and other professional wireless audio and video equipment. The spectrum between 698 and 806 MHz?known as the ?700 MHz band??has been reserved for exclusive use by Public Safety agencies and licensed wireless service providers.

The FCC has ordered that wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, and related equipment must cease operations in the 700 MHz band (698?806 MHz) after June 12, 2010, or earlier under certain conditions. This rule change does not apply to wireless systems that operate in other frequency ranges?only systems that operate on frequencies between 698 and 806 MHz are affected.

The order applies to all wireless system users regardless of whether the user holds an FCC license. The order also requires microphone users to cease operations in specified 700 MHz frequencies within 60 days upon receipt of a notice from a wireless carrier or public safety entity authorized to use the spectrum, or, alternatively, within 60 days of the release of an FCC Public Notice specifying that certain 700 MHz frequencies are no longer available for wireless system use in a particular market.

Berjaya University College of Hospitality

Berjaya Higher Education setup an university college on hospitality located at Berjaya Time Square. It offer courses near the Berjaya Hotel with an environment that reflects future workplace. The programmes provide culinary arts, tourism, retail & events management and English language.

During the construction we were given the opportunity to participate an exercise to design an Audio Visual systems for the college Lecture Theaters, Training Restaurant and Classrooms. We are glad that our design and built systems met their application and accepted us to install the AV system with automation. Here are the systems configuration of each venues.

Lecture Theaters
The theaters has partition doors to separate 2 Lecture Theaters with single AV Room that control both theaters. Each theater has its own sound system, dual projection and integrated teaching rostrum. The sound system is program to separate the 2 theaters or join as 1 theater when partition doors is slide open to signal the processor to change the setting.
The projection is setup at both side of each theater and is operate with program integrated control system at the rostrum and/or the wireless touchpanel for both theaters. The PC in AV Room can project and display images at 1 side of both theaters as well as video with camcorder.
The Integrated Teaching Rostrum has its own speakers, PC and port for laptop, and 1 of the theater it has Tablet PC, Visualizer and it can slide as table to put laptop or files. The rostrum can be standalone operation and it is mobile with all connection on the floor panel.

The Visual system designed without any video switcher and all switching is done at Integrated Control System that program with Automation to switch on/off the projection including rolling up/down motorized screen when detected the Lecture Theater is not being use.

Samplings on the Fourteen restaurant
The restaurant is a dining area with bar counter and 2 private dining rooms that has ceiling speaker with volume control for background music or paging. Alone the walkway installed coaxial ceiling speakers and the main dining area has 4 compact speakers for customers music listening pleasure. All the speakers is connected with zoning amplifier that built-in CD/Tuner module and paging is operate with wireless microphone, and also for training purposes.

The amplifier has room to upgrade more speakers to other area with zoning capability.

Classrooms
Most of the classrooms has a projection with semi automatic pull down screen. Because of budget constraint all projectors are not via network control for monitoring.
